The droid was responsible for the deaths of the Jawas and didn’t waste any time trying to kill Gizz, Spiker and Onoh as well. After racing toward the sandcrawlers and entering one to confront the driver, they discover something more menacing awaited them: a giant, robotic dark trooper.
When these three were abruptly awakened and almost killed by a group of sandcrawler vehicles, they thought some unruly Jawas were to blame. Unfortunately for the dark trooper, the crew’s death caused it to be marooned on Tatooine for three years.īig Gizz, Spiker and Onoh were the ragtag group of campers that finally stopped the dark trooper’s three-year killing spree on Tatooine. When the Rebel ship fled from the ambush, this gigantic dark trooper boarded before they could head into hyperspace and single-handedly killed the entire crew. It continues the story started by Star Wars: Dark Forces and chronicles the happenings of a dark trooper that stopped the escape of a Rebel ship during the attack of Tak Base on Talay. The concept of dark troopers was expanded upon in a short comic called Sand Blasted in June 2000. The third and final phase of the dark trooper program even allowed for a user to wear it as a battle suit. Dark troopers were created in three phases with increasing degrees of strength and tactical prowess for each new model. The lore behind the creation of dark troopers is quite vast in the Star Wars: Dark Forces video game, but put simply, they are experimental advanced humanoid battle droids meant to massacre enemies in close combat.
